The MILWAUKEE 48-89-2502 is a cobalt jobber-length drill bit engineered for cutting hard metals and demanding drilling applications. It features a variable helix geometry with an aggressive 35-degree helix angle that transitions to 15 degrees, promoting rapid chip evacuation and limiting heat buildup during extended use. The 135-degree split point tip provides a precise start and prevents the bit from walking on contact. This bit is sold individually and is suited for use by machinists, pipefitters, electricians, and other tradespeople who regularly work with hard or abrasive metals.
The 48-89-2502 is intended for hard metal drilling applications including stainless steel, hardened steel, cast iron, and other tough materials. The cobalt construction gives it significantly longer service life compared to standard black oxide bits, making it a practical choice for repeated production drilling or heavy-duty fieldwork. It can also be used in general-purpose twist drilling applications where a premium bit is preferred.
Designed as a jobber-length cobalt drill bit compatible with standard drill chucks and driver systems used in hard metal drilling applications.
Install the bit securely in the drill chuck and confirm it is fully seated before operation. Power down or unplug the drill before changing bits. Use appropriate cutting fluid or coolant when drilling hard metals to extend bit life and maintain accuracy. Follow applicable shop safety standards and wear eye protection during all drilling operations.
