The MILWAUKEE 48-89-2222 is a titanium-coated jobber-length drill bit engineered for extended performance in demanding trade applications. The titanium coating reduces heat build-up, helping the cutting edge stay sharp longer compared to standard high-speed steel bits. A thicker-than-standard web core adds structural strength and resists side-load breakage during aggressive drilling. The 135-degree split point tip starts on contact without center-punching, preventing the bit from walking on the workpiece. Electricians, plumbers, HVAC techs, and general contractors install and use this bit for repetitive hole-making through wood, metal, and PVC on the jobsite.
This bit is suited for both residential and light commercial jobsite work where high-cycle drilling is required. The parabolic flute geometry evacuates chips rapidly, reducing heat and maintaining cut speed through the full depth of the hole. The reduced shank diameter allows use in standard 3/8-inch drill chucks, making it compatible with the compact cordless drills commonly carried by trade professionals. It is effective on curved and irregular surfaces where bit walking is a common problem.
Designed for use with portable drills equipped with 3/8-inch or larger chucks. Suitable for drilling through wood, metal, and PVC in general construction and trade applications.
Insert the 3-flat shank fully into the drill chuck and tighten securely before use. Reduce feed pressure when breaking through the back side of the material to prevent grabbing or bit damage. For metal drilling, use a cutting fluid or lubricant to further reduce heat build-up and extend bit life. Inspect the cutting edges regularly and replace the bit if the tip shows signs of heat discoloration or dulling.
