The MILWAUKEE 48-89-2218 is a titanium-coated jobber-length drill bit designed for extended service life and consistent accuracy in trade and jobsite drilling applications. The titanium coating reduces heat buildup to deliver up to 3 times longer life compared to standard high-speed steel bits. A thickened Thunderbolt web core adds structural strength and resists side-load breakage during aggressive drilling. The 135-degree split point tip starts on contact, eliminating walking and reducing the need for a center punch. Each package includes two bits.
This drill bit is suited for drilling through wood, metal, and PVC in both residential and light commercial applications. The parabolic flute geometry clears chips and debris rapidly to keep the bit cool during extended use. The reduced shank diameter allows use in 3/8-inch chucks, and the 3-flat shank design seats securely in the chuck to prevent slipping during operation. It is well-suited for portable drill use by electricians, plumbers, HVAC technicians, and general contractors working on curved or flat surfaces.
Designed for use with standard portable drills equipped with 3/8-inch or larger keyed or keyless chucks. Compatible with wood, metal, and PVC substrates in typical jobsite conditions.
Installation of this bit is performed by electricians, plumbers, HVAC technicians, and general construction trades. Secure the bit fully in the chuck before operating the drill, ensuring all three flats engage the chuck jaws. Wear appropriate eye protection when drilling metal or PVC. Allow the bit to cool between extended drilling cycles to preserve coating integrity.
