The MILWAUKEE 48-27-0170 is a 3/8-inch by 16-inch flat boring bit designed for wood boring applications where extended reach is required without the use of add-on extensions. The bit features double wing spurs that reduce vibration, limit breakout at the exit point, and promote clean, efficient hole formation. A patented cutting edge geometry allows faster, easier boring compared to conventional spade-style flat bits. The non-stick surface finish prevents chip buildup, allowing heat to dissipate more quickly during use. Carpenters, electricians, and plumbers running wire or pipe through framing members are the primary installers of this tool.
This flat boring bit is suited for residential and light commercial rough-in work where long-reach drilling through wall plates, floor joists, and framing lumber is required. The 1/4-inch quick-change hex shank makes it compatible with universal Quik-Lok extensions, giving the installer additional reach options when a single 16-inch length is not sufficient. The bit works with any drill or driver accepting a standard 1/4-inch hex chuck.
Compatible with all universal Quik-Lok extensions via the 1/4-inch quick-change hex shank. Fits any drill or driver equipped with a standard 1/4-inch hex chuck.
This bit is installed and used by electricians, plumbers, and carpenters during rough-in framing work. Always ensure the workpiece is secured before drilling. Inspect the cutting edge before each use and replace the bit if chipping or blunting is observed. Follow applicable NEC or IPC clearance requirements when boring holes through structural framing members.
