The Milwaukee 48-22-4254 is a quick-adjust copper tubing cutter built for plumbers and pipefitters who need clean, accurate cuts on larger-diameter copper pipe. The four-roller design keeps the cutter tracking straight and prevents the blade from walking during the cut. A quick-adjustment mechanism lets the technician resize the cutter rapidly between pipes and reset it for the next cut without fumbling. The tool-free blade change means field replacement takes seconds without reaching for additional tools. Chrome rollers are treated for rust resistance to hold up in wet mechanical rooms and job-site conditions.
This cutter is sized for residential and light commercial plumbing work involving larger copper supply lines, HVAC refrigerant piping, and mechanical room rough-in. It handles pipe in the 1-5/8 inch to 3-5/8 inch outside diameter range, making it appropriate for 1-1/4 inch through 3 inch nominal copper tube sizes commonly used in main supply runs, chilled water lines, and gas distribution piping where copper is specified. Plumbers, pipefitters, and HVAC technicians are the primary installers.
Designed for cutting copper tubing and pipe with an outside diameter between 1-5/8 inches and 3-5/8 inches. Replacement blades for Milwaukee quick-adjust tube cutters are sold separately.
Plumbers and HVAC technicians should isolate and depressurize the pipe and drain standing water before cutting into an existing system. Deburr the cut end with a reamer or deburring tool before soldering or joining to ensure a proper seal. Follow IPC and local plumbing code requirements for copper piping installation. Keep the cutting wheel and rollers clean to maintain cut accuracy and extend blade life.
