The MILWAUKEE 48-20-5488 is a 1-piece carbide-tipped core bit designed for drilling large-diameter holes in masonry and concrete where the depth requirement is relatively shallow. Built on a spline shank with a 3/4 inch shank size, it delivers an overall length of 22 inches and a cutting depth of 3 inches. The one-piece construction maximizes energy transfer from the hammer to the cutting edge, while the thick-wall core body holds up under the stress of large rotary hammer operation. A fluted exterior reduces friction and clears debris from the kerf efficiently. Licensed contractors and experienced masonry trades are the primary installers of this bit.
This core bit is suited for residential and commercial masonry applications requiring clean, large-diameter through-holes or shallow blind holes in block, brick, or concrete. The asymmetric tooth pitch with alternating tooth geometries accelerates material pulverization for faster cutting cycles. It is available in spline shank configuration and is intended for use in compatible spline-drive rotary hammers. Note that the centering bit 48-20-5495 is recommended for accurate hole placement but is not included. Use drift key 48-20-5497 to remove the centering bit from the core bit after use.
Designed for use with spline-drive rotary hammers. Centering bit 48-20-5495 (sold separately) is recommended for accurate positioning. Use drift key 48-20-5497 (sold separately) to remove the centering bit from the core bit after drilling.
This core bit is installed and operated by licensed masonry contractors or qualified tradespeople familiar with rotary hammer equipment. Power down and disconnect the rotary hammer from its power source before attaching or removing the bit. The core bit cuts a kerf only — the inside core slug must be manually removed by the operator before drilling can continue to greater depth. Follow the rotary hammer manufacturer guidelines and applicable jobsite safety codes when operating large SDS or spline drive equipment.
