The MILWAUKEE 48-20-5165 is a thick wall diamond core bit designed for large-diameter hole cutting in masonry and concrete. With a 6-inch diameter and a usable cutting depth of 4-1/16 inches, this core bit cuts a kerf only, meaning the inside core slug must be removed by the operator before advancing to greater depth. The thick wall construction handles the higher torque output of larger rotary hammer drills and performs best in seasoned or fully cured concrete. A spline drive adapter shank matched to the bit diameter is required for proper operation.
This core bit is suited for commercial and residential concrete drilling applications where large-diameter penetrations are needed, such as conduit sleeves, pipe penetrations, and anchor pockets. It is engineered for use with 12-inch or 18-inch spline adapter shanks (48-03-3564, 48-03-3565) and 12-inch or 18-inch SDS-Max adapter shanks (48-03-3572, 48-03-3573). For deeper holes, the 7-1/2-inch extension 48-95-6085 can be added. The 48-20-5176 guide plate and 48-20-5199 centering pin are used to position and start the cut accurately. Thick wall core bits in this series are available in diameters from 1 inch through 6 inches.
Compatible with 12-inch and 18-inch spline adapter shanks (48-03-3564, 48-03-3565), 12-inch and 18-inch SDS-Max adapter shanks (48-03-3572, 48-03-3573), extension 48-95-6085, guide plate 48-20-5176, and centering pin 48-20-5199.
Installation should be performed by a qualified tradesperson familiar with rotary hammer operation and concrete core drilling procedures. Power down and de-energize any nearby embedded systems before drilling. Always verify the correct diameter spline drive or SDS-Max shank adapter is installed before beginning; using a mismatched shank can damage the bit or the hammer. The inside core slug must be cleared after each cutting pass before drilling deeper.
