The MILWAUKEE 48-13-6800 is a Shockwave lineman's impact auger bit engineered specifically for drilling cleaner, faster holes in wooden utility poles. Built for power utility linemen, it features an aggressive feed screw and cutting edge that pull the bit through the material without excessive force. A reinforced anti-friction PTFE coating reduces friction during drilling and makes bit removal easier after the hole is complete. The optimized wide flute geometry ejects chips rapidly, clearing the hole to maintain drilling speed and reduce clogging. This bit weighs 0.56 pounds and is sold as a single piece.
This auger bit is intended for use in power utility and electrical line work where linemen need to bore through wooden utility poles in the field. The 7/16 inch hex shank connects directly into standard 7/16 inch quick-connect impact driver chucks, making it compatible with common impact tools used in utility construction and maintenance. It is designed for clean wood only and is not recommended for treated, weathered, or embedded-hardware sections of a pole. Typical applications include boring holes for through-bolts, hardware mounting, and pole attachment points on wooden utility structures.
Designed for use with impact drivers and drills equipped with a 7/16 inch quick-connect chuck. Intended for drilling into clean wooden utility poles. Not recommended for use in treated lumber or wood containing embedded hardware or metal.
Installation and use of this bit is typically performed by licensed power utility linemen working under applicable utility and electrical codes. Ensure the impact driver is powered off and the chuck is secured before inserting or removing the bit. Inspect the bit for wear or damage before each use, particularly the feed screw and cutting edge. Do not use on materials other than clean wood, as this can damage the bit geometry and reduce drilling performance.
