The MILWAUKEE 48-13-6700 is a SHOCKWAVE lineman's impact auger bit engineered for drilling clean, fast holes in wooden utility poles. It features a single spur design that scores the perimeter of the hole, producing a cleaner edge that allows hardware to slide through without resistance. A reinforced anti-friction PTFE coating reduces friction during drilling and simplifies bit removal from the pole. The aggressive feed screw and cutting edge pull the bit through the material, while optimized wide flute geometry ejects chips quickly to clear the hole and maintain drilling speed. Power utility linemen and electrical line crews are the primary users of this bit.
This auger bit is designed for power utility work where drilling through wooden utility poles is a routine task. It is suited for residential and commercial pole line construction, service restoration, and maintenance work where clean bolt holes are required for hardware installation. The solid stemmed core adds structural integrity during high-torque impact driving. The bit is recommended for clean wood only and is not intended for use in treated, wet, or degraded wood where performance may vary. The 7/16 inch hex shank connects directly into standard 7/16 inch quick-connect chucks used with impact drivers and right-angle drills common to linework.
Compatible with impact drivers and right-angle drills fitted with a 7/16 inch quick-connect chuck. Designed for drilling into wooden utility poles; recommended for clean wood only.
Installation is performed by licensed power utility linemen and electrical line crews following applicable OSHA and NESC safety requirements. Ensure the driving tool is properly seated into the 7/16 inch quick-connect chuck before applying load. Disengage the driving tool from all power sources before inspecting or removing the bit. Do not use this bit on materials other than clean wood, as doing so may damage the cutting geometry or reduce hole quality.
