The MILWAUKEE 48-13-0048 is a self-feeding Speed Feed wood boring bit designed for fast, clean hole drilling in wood framing and rough carpentry applications. Built with a center feed screw and double wing spurs, the bit pulls itself through the material while delivering clean, burr-free holes. At 1/2 inch in diameter and 6 inches in length, it handles typical through-bore work in dimensional lumber and engineered wood. Electricians and low-voltage installers reach for this bit when running wire, cable, or conduit through studs and joists.
This bit is well suited for residential and light commercial rough-in work. It excels in wood-frame construction where electricians, plumbers, and data installers need to bore repeatable, clean holes for wire pulls, pipe penetrations, or bolt passages. The 6-inch length provides enough reach to clear most dimensional framing in a single pass without an extension. Its self-feeding geometry reduces hand pressure required during drilling, improving speed and consistency across repeated holes.
Designed for use in wood framing, dimensional lumber, and engineered wood substrates. Compatible with standard 3/8-inch and 1/2-inch chuck corded and cordless drill/drivers and right-angle drills commonly used in electrical and plumbing rough-in work.
Installation is performed by licensed electricians, plumbers, or low-voltage technicians during rough-in framing stages. Confirm that the drilling area is clear of hidden utilities before boring. Use appropriate PPE including eye protection when drilling overhead or in confined spaces. Follow applicable NEC or IPC clearance requirements when boring near structural members.
