The MIDLAND METAL 32003 is a straight rigid hose barb adapter machined from brass, designed to connect a 3/16 inch inside-diameter hose to a 1/4 inch male NPTF threaded port. The barbed end grips the hose ID to create a secure, leak-resistant seal without a clamp in low-pressure applications, while the tapered NPTF threads form a pressure-tight mechanical seal at the port connection. This fitting is used in fluid transfer, fuel, and pneumatic line assemblies across HVAC, plumbing, and general mechanical service work. It is installed by plumbers, HVAC technicians, and equipment service technicians where a hose-to-pipe-thread transition is required.
The 32003 suits residential and light commercial applications where a small-diameter flexible hose must terminate at a male NPTF fitting port. Common install scenarios include condensate and drain line fittings, fuel line transitions, and pneumatic control tubing connections. The straight orientation keeps the assembly compact in tight equipment cabinets and panels. This fitting is not rated as lead-free and should not be used in potable water service.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or service fitting for systems requiring a 3/16 inch hose barb to 1/4 inch male NPTF adapter in straight orientation. Not suitable for potable water applications due to non-lead-free brass construction.
Installation is performed by a licensed plumber or qualified mechanical technician. Shut off fluid or air supply and relieve system pressure before removing or installing any fitting. NPTF threads are designed for dry-seal engagement, but thread sealant tape may be applied per local code and manufacturer practice. Do not overtighten the barb connection; secure the hose with an appropriate clamp where required by the application or applicable code.
