The MIDLAND INDUSTRIES 61-103 is a 1/2-inch brass spring check valve with female iron pipe (FIP) end connections, manufactured to a lead-free standard. Spring check valves use an internal spring-loaded disc to allow flow in one direction and prevent backflow when pressure drops or reverses. This valve is suited for plumbing, HVAC hydronic, and light commercial piping systems where backflow prevention is required on a 1/2-inch line. Installation is handled by licensed plumbers or pipefitters working on potable water, heating, or cooling distribution systems.
The 61-103 is appropriate for residential and light commercial applications where a compact, inline backflow prevention device is needed on a 1/2-inch FIP-threaded line. Typical install scenarios include domestic water supply branches, circulator pump outlets in hydronic heating systems, and similar low-to-medium pressure piping runs. The lead-free brass construction meets requirements for use on potable water systems.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation spring check valve for 1/2-inch FIP-threaded plumbing, HVAC hydronic, and light commercial piping systems.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber in accordance with applicable local plumbing codes and IPC guidelines. Shut off the water supply and relieve system pressure completely before removing any existing valve or fitting. Apply thread sealant or PTFE tape to male threads before making up connections, and do not overtighten threaded joints in brass fittings. Verify flow-direction arrow on the valve body is oriented correctly with the intended flow path before final installation.
