The MIDDLE ATLANTIC - U.S. - LEGRAND S1 is a one-space security cover designed to block access to unused rack unit openings in standard equipment enclosures. It mounts in a single rack unit (1U) position and prevents unauthorized removal or tampering with adjacent gear. Installers use it to fill vacant spaces in audio-visual racks, server enclosures, and data distribution panels where equipment security and a clean finished appearance are both required. It ships as a single unit and installs without specialized tooling.
The S1 is suited for use in residential, commercial, and light-industrial rack installations where open rack bays create a security risk or airflow management concern. Systems integrators, low-voltage technicians, and rack-and-stack installers typically specify this cover when building out enclosures that are partially populated or when locking out specific rack positions from end-user access. It is sold individually and occupies exactly one rack unit of vertical space.
Designed as an OEM-style accessory for use with standard 1U rackmount enclosures and open-frame rack systems accepting EIA-310 compliant panel accessories.
Installation is performed by a low-voltage technician or systems integrator working on rack-mounted enclosures. Power down or de-energize any adjacent active equipment before working inside the rack to prevent accidental contact. The S1 mounts in a standard rack unit opening using the enclosure's existing cage nuts or clip-nut strip; no additional hardware is specified in the product data. Follow applicable low-voltage installation codes and the rack manufacturer's guidelines for panel mounting.
