The MICRO 100 RR-017-250-187 is a solid carbide internal grooving tool designed specifically for cutting retaining ring grooves in bored holes. Built from solid carbide throughout, it delivers the rigidity and wear resistance needed for precise, repeatable groove geometry in ferrous and non-ferrous materials. The shank diameter is 3/16 inches, overall length is 2 inches, and the tool produces a groove width of 0.017 inches. Machinists and toolroom technicians working on CNC lathes or manual boring operations rely on this tool type for consistent retaining ring seat geometry.
This grooving tool is suited for internal grooving applications in small-bore work. The minimum hole diameter it can access is 0.1875 inches, with a maximum hole depth capacity of 0.25 inches and a projection of 0.03 inches. It is appropriate for production and job-shop environments where tight tolerances on retaining ring grooves are required in small components such as hydraulic valves, pneumatic fittings, miniature shafts, and precision assemblies.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and standard tooling option for small-bore internal retaining ring grooving operations on CNC and manual lathes using 3/16 inch shank toolholders.
This tool is installed and operated by machinists on CNC or manual turning equipment. Secure the shank firmly in a compatible toolholder with adequate clamping torque appropriate to the holder manufacturer specifications. Ensure the workpiece is properly fixtured and the machine spindle is fully stopped before changing or adjusting tooling. Use appropriate cutting fluid for the workpiece material to extend tool life and maintain groove geometry.
