The MICRO 100 QBT-1801000X is a solid carbide boring bar designed for internal diameter machining on lathes and turning centers. It accepts a minimum bore diameter of 0.180 inches and reaches a maximum bore depth of 1 inch, making it well-suited for small-bore, tight-tolerance work. The 1/4 inch shank diameter provides rigid tool holding in standard boring bar holders and quick-change toolposts. A 0.006 inch corner radius reduces stress concentration at the cutting edge while maintaining dimensional control. At 2.5 inches overall length and weighing just 0.048 pounds, the tool is compact and easy to handle during setup. Machinists and tool-and-die professionals install this bar for finish boring operations where dimensional accuracy is critical.
This boring bar is used in precision turning applications on manual lathes and CNC turning centers. Its right-hand cutting direction makes it compatible with standard spindle rotation in conventional lathe setups. The small minimum bore diameter of 0.180 inches suits work on small mechanical components such as bushings, sleeves, valve bodies, and hydraulic fittings where inside diameters must be held to close tolerances. The solid carbide construction handles the cutting forces and heat generated in ferrous and non-ferrous materials.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and standard tooling option for lathes and CNC turning centers equipped with 1/4 inch boring bar holder seats requiring a right-hand solid carbide boring bar.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists following standard lathe tooling setup procedures. Power down and lock out the machine before mounting or removing the boring bar. Ensure the shank is fully seated and clamped securely in the tool holder to the manufacturer-specified engagement depth before running the spindle. Inspect the cutting edge for chips or wear before each use, as carbide tooling can fail without visible warning if damaged.
