The MICRO 100 BB-230500 is a solid carbide boring bar designed for internal diameter machining on lathes and boring mills. It handles a minimum bore diameter of 0.23 inches and a maximum bore depth of 0.5 inches, making it well suited for tight, short-reach bores where rigidity is critical. The 5/16-inch shank diameter and 2.5-inch overall length keep the tool compact and stiff, reducing chatter and deflection in precision cuts. The 0.006-inch corner radius produces a controlled surface finish at the bore wall. Right-hand cutting direction is standard for conventional spindle rotation. Machinists and tool-and-die professionals working in production or job-shop environments are the primary users of this bar.
This boring bar is used for finish and semi-finish boring of small-diameter holes in a range of workpiece materials. Its solid carbide construction makes it appropriate for hardened steels, stainless alloys, cast iron, and non-ferrous materials where high wear resistance is needed. Typical applications include CNC lathe work, manual turret lathe operations, and small-part boring on machining centers where a short, rigid boring bar is required to hold tight tolerances in confined bore lengths.
Designed as an OEM-style solid carbide boring bar for use in standard 5/16-inch boring bar holders on CNC and manual lathes, turret lathes, and machining centers requiring right-hand internal boring capability.
Installation is performed by a machinist or toolroom technician. The machine spindle must be stopped and the tool turret or holder must be fully powered down before inserting or removing the boring bar. Secure the shank firmly in the holder to the manufacturer-specified clamping depth to prevent pullout under cutting loads. Inspect the carbide tip for chipping or wear before each use, as solid carbide is brittle and susceptible to damage from interrupted cuts or improper handling.
