The MICRO 100 BB-120800 is a solid carbide boring bar designed for internal diameter turning operations on CNC lathes and manual turning centers. With a minimum bore diameter of 0.12 inches and a maximum bore depth of 0.8 inches, this bar handles tight, shallow bore applications where rigidity and precision are critical. The 3/16-inch shank diameter and 2-inch overall length make it well suited for small-bore work in tool steel, stainless, aluminum, and similar workpiece materials. The bright, uncoated finish is standard for carbide tooling run with cutting fluid or in applications where coating is not required. Licensed machinists and toolroom technicians are the primary users of this type of tooling.
This boring bar is intended for right-hand cut boring operations in production and job-shop environments. It fits applications requiring a compact shank and precise corner geometry, with a 0.006-inch corner radius suited to fine finishing cuts. The 0.0263-inch offset positions the cutting edge correctly for single-point internal boring. Typical install scenarios include small-bore finishing passes on lathe-turned components where concentricity and surface finish are the primary objectives.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct-fit boring bar for lathes and turning centers accepting a 3/16-inch shank boring bar holder.
Installation and tool changes should be performed with the machine in a full stop and locked-out state per OSHA lockout/tagout requirements. Secure the shank fully in the boring bar holder to the depth recommended by the toolholder manufacturer to minimize overhang-related chatter. Verify correct tool height and centerline alignment before taking a cut. Do not exceed the recommended depth of cut for solid carbide at this shank diameter, as excessive side load can cause tool deflection or fracture.
