The METAL-FAB 6M5SY3 is a Type B double-wall gas vent wye designed for venting approved gas appliances in residential and light commercial installations. This swivel wye measures 6 inches by 5 inches by 3 inches and features a round, double-wall construction with an aluminum alloy inner wall at 0.012 inches thick and a G90 galvanized steel outer wall at 0.018 inches thick. The Sure-Lock twist-lock connection with integrated locking tab eliminates the need for sheet metal screws, reducing installation time and the chance of connection failure. Licensed HVAC technicians and gas appliance installers work with this fitting when routing B-vent systems around offsets or when branching vent runs.
The 6M5SY3 is suited for Type B gas vent systems serving natural gas and propane appliances such as furnaces, water heaters, and boilers. The swivel design allows field adjustment of the branch angle, which is especially useful when rough-in dimensions require flexibility. The double-wall configuration maintains the required air space between the flue gas path and the outer casing, supporting proper draft and surface temperature management. This fitting is applicable in both new construction and retrofit B-vent installations where a wye branch connection is needed.
Designed for use in Type B double-wall gas vent systems with approved natural gas and propane appliances. Fits 6-inch, 5-inch, and 3-inch B-vent pipe runs within the METAL-FAB Sure-Lock system. Verify appliance vent sizing and system configuration against the appliance manufacturer specifications and local code before installation.
Installation should be performed by a licensed HVAC technician or qualified gas appliance installer in accordance with NFPA 54, NFPA 211, and applicable local codes. Shut off the gas supply and allow the appliance to cool before servicing any connected vent components. Confirm all Sure-Lock connections are fully engaged and the locking tab is seated before restoring operation. Do not mix Type B vent components from different manufacturers within the same vent system unless explicitly listed for such use.
