The METAL-FAB 10159 is a flexible duct connector designed to provide vibration isolation and movement compensation in HVAC duct systems. Constructed with a metal-to-fabric-to-metal configuration, it uses an Excelon vinyl-coated woven nylon and polyester blend fabric flanked by galvanized steel collars. The fabric section delivers 240/220 lb tensile strength, making it well-suited for demanding commercial and residential air distribution applications. Licensed HVAC technicians and sheet metal workers install this connector to reduce blower and air handler vibration transmission into the duct system and to accommodate minor misalignment at equipment connections.
The 10159 is used on heating, cooling, and ventilation systems where a 3-inch round duct connection requires a flexible transition. The metal-to-fabric-to-metal design allows the connector to absorb vibration and thermal movement without transmitting stress to adjacent ductwork. Its mildew-resistant, water-resistant fabric construction makes it appropriate for both supply and return applications in a range of indoor air quality and comfort systems handled by commercial or residential HVAC contractors.
Designed for use on 3-inch duct connections in heating, cooling, and ventilation systems. Suitable as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation flexible connector wherever metal-to-fabric-to-metal transitions are specified.
Installation is performed by licensed HVAC technicians or qualified sheet metal workers. Power down and lock out the air handling unit or blower before beginning work, and verify the duct system is depressurized. Secure both metal collars to adjacent duct sections using fasteners and sealant appropriate to the application per SMACNA guidelines. Do not over-compress or stretch the fabric section during installation, as distortion can reduce the connector's vibration isolation effectiveness.
