The METABO 629406000 is a Type 29 flap disc designed for aggressive material removal on steel and stainless steel. It measures 4.5 inches in diameter with a 7/8 inch arbor hole and carries a 60-grit zirconia alumina abrasive bonded to a fiberglass backing plate. The conical Type 29 geometry presents the abrasive at an angle, concentrating cutting pressure and making it well suited for blending welds, removing scale, and deburring on flat and contoured surfaces. Rated at 13,300 RPM, it is built for use on standard 4.5 inch angle grinders. Metal fabricators, pipefitters, and ironworkers are the primary installers of this disc in production and field environments.
This flap disc is intended for grinding and finishing operations on mild steel, carbon steel, and stainless steel workpieces. The zirconia alumina grain self-sharpens under pressure, sustaining cut rate longer than standard aluminum oxide alternatives. The medium-grade 60-grit rating sits between aggressive stock removal and final blending, making it a practical single-disc choice for weld seam cleanup and surface conditioning passes. It belongs to the Original Flapper series and is sold individually.
Designed for use on 4.5 inch angle grinders equipped with a 7/8 inch arbor. Rated material applications include steels and stainless steel per manufacturer data.
Flap discs are installed and replaced by metalworkers, fabricators, and maintenance trades using angle grinders. Always power down and unplug or lock out the grinder before mounting or removing a disc. Verify the grinder RPM rating meets or exceeds 13,300 RPM before use, and confirm the arbor size matches the 7/8 inch hole. Never exceed the disc maximum RPM rating, and inspect the disc for damage before each use.
