The MESTEK hsb12011 is a horizontal hydronic and steam unit heater rated at 87,000 BTU/h output at 200 degrees F entering water or steam temperature. It uses a copper tube heat exchanger with a fan guard and delivers 1,900 CFM of heated airflow through a 1/3 HP, 120-volt totally enclosed motor equipped with a thermal overload protector. Hot water or steam connections are 1-1/2 inch FPT on both the inlet and outlet, and the unit is rated for a maximum working pressure of 150 psi. Weighing 55 pounds, this unit heater is built for permanent installation in commercial and industrial spaces where hydronic or steam heating systems are already in place. Licensed HVAC and mechanical contractors are the primary installers.
The hsb12011 is designed for horizontal throw applications in commercial or light industrial settings such as warehouses, garages, loading docks, and mechanical rooms. The horizontal airflow pattern allows the unit to be ceiling- or wall-mounted to direct heat across large open floor areas. It connects directly to existing hydronic hot water or low-pressure steam distribution piping. The copper tube coil construction is well suited to both systems, and the totally enclosed motor with thermal overload protection allows operation in dusty or moderately contaminated environments common in industrial facilities.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct installation unit heater for horizontal hydronic hot water and low-pressure steam heating systems. Compatible with 1-1/2 inch FPT hydronic piping configurations.
Installation should be performed by a licensed HVAC or mechanical contractor in accordance with applicable local mechanical codes and IFGC or IPC guidelines where applicable. Shut off and isolate the hydronic or steam supply and verify the system is depressurized and cooled before making pipe connections. Disconnect electrical power at the circuit breaker before wiring the motor. Ensure mounting hardware is rated for the unit weight of 55 pounds and that the horizontal throw direction is unobstructed for safe and effective heat distribution.
