The MERSEN A4BT2000 is a Class L time-delay fuse rated at 2000 amps and 600 volts, designed for high-capacity overcurrent protection in industrial and commercial electrical systems. Class L fuses in this ampere range are bolt-in style and built to handle the high inrush currents common in large motor loads, transformers, and service entrance equipment. The time-delay characteristic allows temporary overload conditions to pass without nuisance opening while still providing fast response to fault-level currents. Licensed electricians and electrical contractors are the primary installers of this fuse class.
The A4BT2000 is suited for use in heavy industrial facilities, commercial buildings, and utility service sections where high-ampacity branch circuit and feeder protection is required. Typical applications include motor control centers, large air handling unit feeders, main service disconnects, and transformer secondary protection. Its 600-volt rating covers the full range of standard North American three-phase distribution voltages including 480-volt and 600-volt systems.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and standard-stock Class L fuse for industrial and commercial electrical panelboards, switchgear, and disconnect switches rated for Class L fuse elements at 2000 amps and 600 volts.
Installation must be performed by a licensed electrician in accordance with NFPA 70 (NEC) Article 240 and local electrical codes. De-energize and lock out the circuit at the upstream disconnect before servicing or replacing fuses. Verify that the fuse holder or disconnect is rated for Class L fuses at the required ampacity and voltage before installation. Do not substitute a lower time-delay or non-current-limiting fuse type in applications where Class L is specified by the equipment manufacturer or design engineer.
