The MERSEN a4bq2500 is a Class L current-limiting fuse rated for 2500 amps at 600 volts AC and 500 volts DC. Built under the Amp-Trap 2000 product line, this fuse features time-delay characteristics that allow it to ride through harmless inrush and transient overloads without nuisance opening, while still providing fast, reliable short-circuit protection. The cylindrical body measures 10.75 inches in length and 4.5 inches in diameter, with blade-style terminal connections. It carries UL E2137/238 and CSA C22.2 listings. Electricians and electrical contractors install this fuse in high-ampacity service entrance, feeder, and distribution panel applications where current-limiting Class L protection is required by the NEC.
The a4bq2500 is suited for a wide range of industrial and commercial electrical applications. Typical use cases include main service protection, feeder circuits, large motor branch circuits, lighting and heating loads, general load protection, circuit breaker back-up duty, UPS systems, and battery circuit protection. The time-delay design makes it especially well suited for motor circuits that draw significant inrush current on startup. The GMG body material and tin-plated copper contacts are designed for mounting in Class L clip-style fuse holders.
Designed for use in Class L fuse holders that accept clip-mounted blade terminal fuses. Listed applications include main, feeder, large motor, lighting, heating, general load, circuit breaker back-up, UPS, and battery circuit installations.
Installation must be performed by a licensed electrician in accordance with the National Electrical Code (NEC) and all applicable local codes. De-energize and verify absence of voltage on the circuit before handling or replacing this fuse. Use Class L-rated fuse clips and pull tools sized for the fuse body dimensions. Never replace a current-limiting fuse with a non-current-limiting type or a fuse of a higher ampere rating than the circuit requires.
