The MERSEN A25X15-1 is a semiconductor fuse rated at 15 amps, designed to provide fast-acting overcurrent protection for solid-state components such as SCRs, diodes, IGBTs, and thyristors. Semiconductor fuses operate at a much faster clearing speed than standard branch-circuit or motor fuses, limiting the let-through energy that can destroy sensitive power electronics. This fuse is intended for use in industrial drive systems, power converters, rectifiers, and similar equipment where protecting semiconductor devices is critical. Licensed electricians and industrial controls technicians are the primary installers of this type of protective device.
Semiconductor fuses of the A25X series are suited for applications where standard time-delay or fast-acting general-purpose fuses cannot respond quickly enough to protect solid-state components. Typical installation scenarios include variable frequency drives, DC bus protection circuits, power conversion equipment, and motor control centers. The fuse is selected based on the current rating of the semiconductor device it protects and the system voltage requirements of the application.
Designed as an OEM-style semiconductor fuse for use in industrial power electronics applications requiring fast-acting overcurrent protection at 15 amps.
Installation should be performed by a licensed electrician in accordance with the National Electrical Code (NEC) and any applicable local codes. De-energize and lock out the equipment before replacing any fuse. Verify that the replacement fuse current rating, voltage rating, and interrupt rating match the original specification before installation. Do not substitute a standard branch-circuit fuse for a semiconductor fuse, as the clearing speed difference can result in unprotected semiconductor damage.
