The MERSEN 622 is a non-rejection fuse reducer designed to allow lower-rated fuses to be installed in existing equipment with higher-amperage-rated clips. Rated for use at up to 60 amps and compatible with both 250-volt and 600-volt circuits, this reducer enables Class H, K, or R fuses to fit Class H or K clips. It is commonly used by licensed electricians when retrofitting older equipment where the installed clip size exceeds the fuse rating needed for proper circuit protection. Switching to a closer-rated time-delay fuse with this reducer can improve overcurrent protection without requiring a full equipment replacement.
This reducer is suited for industrial and commercial electrical installations where existing fuseholders carry a higher ampere rating than the circuit demands. A typical application is a motor branch circuit where renewable or one-time fuses are being replaced with fuses sized closer to the motor nameplate current. The 622 is a non-rejection style, meaning it accepts Class H, K, or R fuses rather than restricting fitment to a single fuse class. It is not intended for bolt-on applications or Class J fuse installations.
Designed to allow Class H, K, or R fuses to fit Class H or K clips in equipment rated above 60 amps. Not compatible with Class J clips or bolt-on fuseholder configurations.
Installation should be performed by a qualified electrician in accordance with the National Electrical Code (NEC) and all applicable local codes. De-energize and lock out the circuit before removing or installing any fuse or fuse reducer. Verify the reducer ampere rating is appropriate for the fuse and load being served before installation. Do not use this reducer in bolt-on applications or where a rejection-style fitment is required.
