The MERIT BRASS XNL114-4032 is a hex head pipe bushing designed to reduce a 2.5-inch male NPT connection down to a 2-inch female NPT connection. Constructed from rough brass, it carries a 125 lb pressure rating and uses standard tapered NPT threads on both ends. This bushing provides a compact, single-piece transition between two pipe sizes without the need for a separate coupling. Licensed plumbers and pipefitters install this fitting in water, gas, and general fluid service applications where a threaded size reduction is required in-line.
This bushing is suited for residential and light commercial plumbing, HVAC piping, and gas distribution systems where a 2.5-inch to 2-inch NPT threaded reduction is needed. The hex head profile allows a wrench to seat the fitting securely without damaging adjacent pipe or fittings. Its brass construction makes it appropriate for potable water, compressed air, and many hydronic heating applications. Installers working in tight mechanical rooms or at manifold assemblies will find the hex head drive surface practical for torquing into cast iron, brass, or steel threaded fittings.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation fitting for systems using standard NPT threaded pipe connections requiring a 2.5-inch to 2-inch threaded reduction.
Installation is performed by licensed plumbers or qualified pipefitters in accordance with applicable IPC or IFGC code requirements. Shut off and depressurize the system completely before removing or installing any threaded fitting. Apply an appropriate thread sealant compound or PTFE tape to the male threads before assembly, and use a properly sized wrench on the hex head to avoid over-stressing the fitting body. Do not use pipe wrenches directly on the fitting hex — use a properly sized open-end or adjustable wrench.
