The MERIT BRASS XNL114-3224 is a hex head pipe bushing used to reduce a 2-inch male NPT connection down to a 1-1/2-inch female NPT port. Machined from brass with a rough finish, this bushing is rated at 125 lb and is a standard fitting for low-pressure plumbing, gas distribution, and fluid handling systems. The hex head design allows for wrench engagement during installation, providing controlled torque without slippage. Plumbers and pipefitters install this type of fitting wherever a threaded reducer is required between nominal pipe sizes in a threaded assembly.
This bushing is suited for residential and light commercial plumbing applications, including water distribution, compressed air lines, and compatible gas piping systems. The MNPT x FNPT configuration allows it to thread directly into a female fitting or valve body while accepting a smaller male pipe or nipple on the inlet side. Its brass construction offers corrosion resistance in wet and humid environments where iron fittings would be prone to rust.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation fitting for standard 2-inch MNPT to 1-1/2-inch FNPT threaded pipe systems in plumbing and fluid handling applications.
This fitting is installed by licensed plumbers or pipefitters working on threaded pipe systems. Shut off and depressurize the line fully before removing or installing any threaded fitting. Apply an approved thread sealant compound or PTFE tape to the male threads before assembly. Tighten using a pipe wrench on the hex head — do not overtighten, as brass threads can strip or crack under excessive force.
