The MERIT BRASS XNL114-2412 is a hex head pipe bushing used to reduce a 1-1/2 inch MNPT (male NPT) connection down to a 3/4 inch FNPT (female NPT) port. Rated at 125 lb, it is machined from rough brass for use in low-to-medium pressure piping systems. The hex head design allows a wrench to seat and torque the fitting without slipping. Plumbers, pipefitters, and mechanical contractors install this type of bushing when connecting a smaller-diameter branch line or valve to a larger-diameter threaded pipe or fitting body.
This bushing is suited for residential and light commercial plumbing, HVAC hydronic piping, and general mechanical systems where a threaded reducer fitting is needed inline or at a port entry. The MNPT x FNPT end style threads directly into a female-threaded pipe, fitting, or valve body, then accepts a male-threaded pipe or fitting on the inside. Its brass construction resists corrosion in water service, and the 125 lb pressure rating covers the demands of most standard-pressure domestic and commercial plumbing applications.
Designed as an OEM-style threaded reducer fitting compatible with standard NPT-threaded pipe, valves, and fittings rated at 125 lb or lower in plumbing and mechanical piping systems.
Installation is performed by licensed plumbers or qualified mechanical technicians. Shut off the water supply and depressurize the line before threading this bushing into or out of any fitting or valve body. Apply thread sealant tape or pipe dope to the male threads per local plumbing code before making up the joint. Do not overtighten brass fittings; use a wrench only to achieve a firm, leak-free seat and avoid cracking the hex.
