The MERIT BRASS XNL114-0806 is a hex head pipe bushing used to reduce a 1/2-inch male NPT connection down to a 3/8-inch female NPT port. Rated at 125 lb, this bushing is machined from brass with a rough finish and is suited for use in water, gas, and general-purpose piping systems. The hex head design allows for wrench engagement during installation, providing controlled torque without damaging the fitting body. Plumbers, HVAC technicians, and pipefitters use this type of reducing bushing when adapting between dissimilar pipe sizes in tight quarters.
This bushing is appropriate for residential and light commercial plumbing and HVAC applications where a threaded pipe reduction is needed inline. The MNPT x FNPT end style makes it compatible with standard NPT-threaded pipe and fittings across a wide range of system types including domestic water supply, compressed air lines, and fuel gas distribution where brass fittings are code-permitted. Its compact hex head profile fits in confined spaces where a full coupling or union would not be practical.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and general-use reducing bushing for standard NPT-threaded piping systems in plumbing, HVAC, and light industrial applications.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber or qualified pipefitter in accordance with applicable local plumbing codes and IFGC requirements where gas service is involved. Shut off the water or gas supply and depressurize the line before removing or installing any threaded fitting. Apply an appropriate thread sealant or PTFE tape to the male threads before assembly. Do not over-tighten brass fittings, as the material is susceptible to cracking under excessive torque.
