The MERIT BRASS XNL112-2420 is a brass pipe reducer coupling designed to connect two different pipe sizes in a threaded piping system. It transitions from a 1-1/2 inch nominal female inlet to a 1-1/4 inch nominal female outlet, both with FNPT (female national pipe taper) threads. Rated at 125 lb pressure class, this fitting is suited for low- to medium-pressure plumbing and mechanical applications. The rough brass finish is standard for buried, concealed, or utility-grade installations. Licensed plumbers and mechanical contractors are the primary installers.
This reducer coupling is used in residential and light commercial plumbing systems where a pipe run changes diameter. Typical applications include water supply lines, compressed air distribution, and general-purpose fluid handling where brass fittings are specified. The FNPT end style on both sides allows connection to standard male-threaded pipe on each end of the transition. It is manufactured as an import product and conforms to standard 125 lb fitting dimensions.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation fitting for 1-1/2 inch to 1-1/4 inch nominal FNPT threaded pipe systems rated at 125 lb class.
Installation is performed by a licensed plumber or qualified mechanical contractor in accordance with the International Plumbing Code (IPC). Shut off and depressurize the supply line completely before removing any existing fitting. Apply PTFE tape or approved pipe thread sealant to the male threads before making up the connection. Do not over-torque brass fittings, as the material is softer than iron and susceptible to thread damage.
