The MERIT BRASS XNL112-2412 is a brass pipe reducer coupling designed to connect two pipes of different nominal sizes in a threaded piping system. It transitions from a 1-1/2 inch nominal female end to a 3/4 inch nominal female end using NPT threads on both ports. Rated at 125 lb, this coupling is suited for low-to-moderate pressure applications in plumbing, steam, water, and general piping systems. The rough brass finish is standard for threaded fittings that will be concealed or installed in mechanical spaces. Licensed plumbers and pipefitters are the primary installers of this fitting.
This reducer coupling is used in residential and light commercial plumbing and mechanical systems where a piping run must step down from 1-1/2 inch nominal pipe to 3/4 inch nominal pipe. Common applications include water supply lines, hydronic heating distribution, compressed air lines, and general-service piping. It is installed wherever a concentric inline reduction is needed without changing pipe orientation. The FNPT end style allows straightforward hand-start threading before final tightening with pipe wrenches.
Designed as an OEM-style threaded fitting compatible with standard 1-1/2 inch and 3/4 inch NPT-threaded pipe and fittings used in residential and commercial plumbing systems.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber in accordance with applicable local plumbing codes and the International Plumbing Code. Shut off and depressurize the supply line before removing any existing fittings or installing this coupling. Apply an appropriate thread sealant tape or compound to the male pipe threads before assembly. Do not over-tighten brass fittings, as excessive force can crack the fitting body.
