The MERIT BRASS XNL112-1208 is a threaded pipe reducer coupling designed to connect two female NPT-threaded pipes of different sizes in a single inline fitting. Rated at 125 lb pressure class, it steps down from a 3/4-inch nominal pipe size to a 1/2-inch nominal pipe size. The fitting is machined from brass with a rough (unpolished) exterior finish. It is installed by licensed plumbers and pipefitters in water supply, low-pressure steam, and general-purpose fluid piping systems where a reduction in line size is required.
This reducer coupling suits residential and light commercial plumbing installations. The FNPT end style means both ends accept male-threaded pipe or fittings, making it compatible with standard NPT-threaded supply lines, valves, and fittings commonly found in domestic water distribution and hydronic heating systems. Its compact, inline profile allows installation in tight spaces where a union or bushing-style reducer is not practical.
Designed as an OEM-style threaded replacement fitting for 3/4-inch to 1/2-inch FNPT reducer coupling applications in standard NPT piping systems rated to 125 lb pressure class.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber in accordance with applicable local plumbing codes and IPC guidelines. Shut off and depressurize the supply line before removing or installing any threaded fitting. Apply an appropriate thread sealant or PTFE tape to the male threads before making up the joint — do not apply sealant to the female threads of this coupling. Hand-tighten first, then wrench-tighten to achieve a leak-free seal without over-stressing the fitting.
