The MERIT BRASS XNL112-1204 is a pipe reducer coupling designed to connect two female-threaded pipe ends of different diameters in a single inline fitting. It reduces a 3/4-inch nominal pipe to a 1/4-inch nominal pipe using female NPT (FNPT) threads on both ends. Rated at 125 lb, this coupling is manufactured from brass with a rough finish. It is used in plumbing, HVAC, and fluid-handling systems where a threaded reduction between two pipe runs is required. Licensed plumbers and pipefitters are the typical installers for this type of fitting.
This reducer coupling is suited for residential and light commercial piping applications involving water, air, oil, and compatible fluids at moderate pressures. The FNPT end style allows direct threaded engagement with standard NPT male pipe ends, making it straightforward to install inline without additional adapters. The 3/4-inch-to-1/4-inch size reduction is commonly found in branch lines, instrumentation ports, gauge connections, and similar low-flow service runs.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation fitting for standard 3/4-inch-to-1/4-inch NPT threaded pipe systems in residential and light commercial plumbing, HVAC, and fluid-handling applications.
Installation is performed by a licensed plumber or pipefitter. Shut off and depressurize the supply line before installing or removing any threaded fitting. Apply an appropriate thread sealant or PTFE tape to the male NPT threads before engagement. Tighten to hand-snug and then advance with a pipe wrench, taking care not to over-tighten brass fittings, which can crack under excessive torque.
