The MERIT BRASS XNL111-24 is a straight pipe coupling designed to join two sections of pipe in a continuous run without changing direction or diameter. It uses female NPT (FNPT) threads on both ends for a standard tapered-thread connection. Rated to 125 lb pressure class, it is constructed from brass with a rough finish. This type of fitting is installed by licensed plumbers and pipefitters working on water, fuel gas, or other compatible fluid systems where a reliable, threaded inline connection is required.
The XNL111-24 is suited for residential and light commercial plumbing and piping applications. The 1-1/2 inch nominal size makes it a common fit for water supply lines, drain and vent rough-in work, and low-pressure gas distribution piping. The FNPT thread form is compatible with standard NPT male-threaded pipe and fittings, making this coupling straightforward to source and replace in the field.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or standard-stock fitting for threaded pipe systems using 1-1/2 inch nominal NPT connections in plumbing, HVAC hydronic, or low-pressure gas piping applications.
Installation is performed by a licensed plumber or pipefitter following applicable IPC or IFGC code requirements for the fluid service. Apply an approved thread sealant or PTFE tape to the male threads before making up the joint — do not apply sealant to female threads. Hand-tighten first, then wrench-tighten to avoid cross-threading. Shut off and depressurize the line completely before removing any existing fitting or cutting into an existing system.
