The MERIT BRASS XNL106-16 is a straight pipe tee fitting designed for threaded pipe systems in plumbing, hydronic, and general industrial applications. It features a 1-inch nominal size with female national pipe taper (FNPT) end connections on all three ports. Rated at 125 lb, this tee is manufactured from brass with a rough finish. Licensed plumbers and pipefitters install this fitting when a branch takeoff is needed in a straight run of threaded pipe. Its all-brass construction offers solid corrosion resistance in a range of fluid-handling environments.
This fitting is suited for residential and light commercial plumbing systems, hydronic heating distribution, compressed air lines, and general-purpose fluid service where threaded connections are specified. The FNPT ends accept standard NPT-threaded pipe and nipples. The rough finish is typical for working fittings that will remain concealed or are used in mechanical rooms and utility spaces where appearance is not a factor.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation fitting for threaded pipe systems using 1-inch nominal NPT connections in plumbing, hydronic, and light industrial service.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber or pipefitter in accordance with applicable local plumbing codes and the International Plumbing Code (IPC). Shut off and depressurize the supply line before removing or installing any threaded fitting. Apply thread sealant tape or pipe dope to male NPT threads before assembly and tighten to hand-tight plus the appropriate number of turns using pipe wrenches — do not overtighten brass fittings as the material can crack under excessive torque. Pressure-test the assembly per local code requirements before returning the system to service.
