The MERIT BRASS XNL103-16 is a 1-inch nominal brass street elbow designed to change flow direction in threaded piping systems. It connects via a male NPT (MNPT) inlet to a female NPT (FNPT) outlet, allowing it to thread directly into a fitting without a nipple. Rated at 125 pounds pressure class, it is suited for low-to-medium pressure applications in water, oil, and gas service lines. The rough brass finish is standard for buried, concealed, or utility installations. Plumbers and pipefitters install this fitting as part of routine rough-in and service piping work.
This street elbow is used in residential and light commercial plumbing, HVAC condensate and water supply lines, and general industrial piping where a compact 90-degree directional change is needed at a threaded connection point. Its MNPT x FNPT configuration makes it especially useful in tight spaces where adding a separate nipple is impractical. The 125 lb pressure rating covers the majority of standard-service threaded piping applications found in building mechanical systems.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-install fitting for 1-inch NPT threaded piping systems in residential and commercial plumbing and mechanical applications.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber or pipefitter in accordance with the applicable plumbing code, such as the IPC or local jurisdiction requirements. Shut off and depressurize the supply line before removing or installing any threaded fitting. Apply an approved thread sealant or PTFE tape to the male threads before assembly. Do not over-tighten brass fittings, as the material can crack under excessive torque.
