This reducer elbow is commonly installed in residential and light commercial piping systems where supply lines transition from a larger trunk diameter to a smaller branch or fixture connection at a 90-degree offset. Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber or qualified pipefitter in accordance with applicable local plumbing codes and the International Plumbing Code (IPC). Shut off and depressurize the supply line completely before removing any existing fitting or threading in this elbow. Apply an appropriate thread sealant such as PTFE tape or pipe-thread compound to the male threads mating into these FNPT ports. Do not overtighten, as brass fittings can crack if excessive torque is applied.
