The MERIT BRASS XNL101-1608 is a 90-degree reducing pipe elbow designed to change flow direction while simultaneously stepping down pipe size in a single fitting. It connects a 1-inch nominal female NPT inlet to a 1/2-inch nominal female NPT outlet, making it a compact solution for plumbing and piping systems that require both a directional change and a size reduction at the same junction. Constructed from rough brass and rated at 125 lb pressure class, this fitting is suited for general-purpose piping in residential, commercial, and light industrial installations. Licensed plumbers and pipefitters are the primary installers.
This reducing elbow is intended for use in water supply, compressed air, and general fluid distribution systems where threaded brass fittings are specified. The FNPT connection on both ends allows it to thread directly onto standard NPT male pipe ends without adapters. Its 125 lb pressure rating makes it appropriate for low-to-medium pressure service lines. The rough brass finish is typical for utility installations where appearance is not a requirement and the fitting will be concealed or painted over.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation fitting for standard NPT threaded piping systems requiring a 1-inch to 1/2-inch 90-degree reducing elbow connection.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber in accordance with applicable local plumbing codes and IPC requirements. Shut off and depressurize the supply line before threading or unthreading any fittings. Apply thread sealant tape or paste appropriate for the service medium to all male NPT threads before assembly. Do not over-tighten threaded brass fittings, as excess torque can crack the fitting body.
