The MERIT BRASS XNL101-02 is a 90-degree pipe elbow rated at 125 lb, designed to change flow direction in threaded piping systems. Constructed from rough brass, this elbow accepts female National Pipe Taper (FNPT) connections at a 1/8 inch nominal pipe size. It is a standard import-class fitting used in low-to-moderate pressure gas, water, and air distribution lines. Plumbers, pipefitters, and HVAC technicians install this type of fitting when routing pipe through tight spaces or around obstructions in both new construction and retrofit applications.
This elbow is suited for residential and light commercial piping systems where a compact, 90-degree directional change is required. Typical applications include fuel gas supply lines, compressed air systems, and water distribution manifolds. The FNPT thread pattern is compatible with standard NPT-threaded pipe and fittings, making it easy to integrate into existing threaded piping assemblies. Its brass construction offers good resistance to corrosion in water and gas service environments.
Designed as an OEM-style threaded fitting for use with 1/8 inch nominal NPT-threaded pipe in residential and light commercial plumbing, HVAC, and gas distribution systems.
This fitting is installed by a licensed plumber or pipefitter using a pipe wrench and appropriate thread sealant or PTFE tape applied to the male threads before assembly. Shut off and depressurize the system completely before removing or installing any threaded fittings. Do not over-torque brass fittings, as the material is softer than iron and can crack if over-tightened. Gas line installations must comply with local codes and the International Fuel Gas Code (IFGC).
