The MERIT BRASS XB114-2420 is a brass pipe bushing designed to reduce a 1-1/2-inch female threaded port down to a 1-1/4-inch female threaded connection. It features male NPT threads on the outer end and female NPT threads on the inner end, allowing it to thread directly into a larger fitting or valve body while accepting a smaller pipe or fitting on the opposite side. Rated Class 125, this bushing is suited for low-to-medium pressure plumbing and piping applications. It weighs approximately 0.43 pounds and is sold individually.
This bushing is commonly used in residential and light commercial plumbing, HVAC piping assemblies, and general industrial pipe systems where a threaded reduction is needed without adding a full coupling. Plumbers and pipefitters install it when connecting different pipe sizes within a threaded iron or brass piping system. Its compact hex-body profile fits standard pipe wrenches and allows installation in tight spaces.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation fitting for threaded brass and iron pipe systems using standard NPT connections.
Installation is performed by licensed plumbers or pipefitters using standard pipe wrenches. Always depressurize and drain the system before removing or installing threaded fittings. Apply an appropriate thread sealant or PTFE tape to the male threads before assembly. Follow applicable IPC or local plumbing code requirements for pressure ratings and approved materials for the intended service.
