The MERIT BRASS XB114-2016 is a threaded brass pipe bushing designed to reduce a 1-1/4 inch female pipe thread connection down to a 1 inch female pipe thread. It serves as a concentric reducer fitting in threaded pipe assemblies, allowing a larger-diameter pipe or fitting to accept a smaller-diameter pipe or component. Rated Class 125, this bushing is suited for low-to-moderate pressure service in water, air, and compatible fluid systems. Licensed plumbers and pipefitters install this type of fitting during rough-in work, system modifications, and repair jobs where pipe size transitions are required.
This bushing is used in residential and light commercial plumbing, HVAC hydronic piping, compressed air distribution, and general industrial pipe assemblies. It is appropriate wherever a standard NPT threaded size reduction is needed between 1-1/4 inch and 1 inch pipe. The MBSPT male end threads into the larger female fitting or valve, and the FBSPT female end receives the smaller male pipe or nipple.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation fitting for standard NPT threaded pipe systems requiring a 1-1/4 inch to 1 inch concentric reduction.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber or qualified pipefitter in accordance with applicable IPC or local plumbing code requirements. Shut off and depressurize the affected pipe section before removing or installing any threaded fitting. Apply thread sealant tape or compound to the male threads before assembly and tighten to a snug, leak-free fit using appropriate pipe wrenches. Do not overtighten brass fittings, as the material is subject to stress cracking if excessive torque is applied.
