The MERIT BRASS XB114-2012 is a threaded brass pipe bushing designed to reduce a 1-1/4 inch female pipe thread to a 3/4 inch female pipe thread connection. It features male BSP taper (MBSPT) on the outer end and female BSP taper (FBSPT) on the inner end, allowing installers to transition between two common pipe sizes within a single fitting. Rated at Class 125, this bushing suits moderate-pressure plumbing and fluid-handling applications. It is installed by licensed plumbers and pipefitters working on water supply, hydronic heating, gas distribution, and general piping systems.
This bushing is used in residential and light commercial piping installations where a reducer fitting is needed to connect a larger-diameter pipe run to a smaller downstream line. Typical applications include connecting branch lines off a main water supply header, adapting valve inlets, and reducing to service equipment with 3/4 inch threaded ports. The threaded design allows installation without soldering or special tooling, making it suitable for field modifications and repair work.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-install fitting for standard threaded pipe systems using 1-1/4 inch and 3/4 inch NPT or BSP taper connections rated to Class 125.
Installation is performed by a licensed plumber or pipefitter. Shut off the water supply and depressurize the line before threading in this bushing. Apply an appropriate thread sealant or PTFE tape to the male threads before assembly, following local plumbing code requirements such as the IPC. Do not over-torque threaded brass fittings, as brass can crack under excessive force.
