The MERIT BRASS XB114-1208 is a threaded brass pipe bushing designed to reduce a 3/4 inch female pipe thread connection down to a 1/2 inch female pipe thread connection. The bushing features male BSPT threads on the outer end and female BSPT threads on the inner bore, allowing it to serve as a reducing adapter between two different pipe sizes within a threaded piping assembly. Rated at Class 125, this fitting is suited for moderate-pressure systems carrying water, air, gas, or other compatible media. Plumbers, pipefitters, and HVAC technicians install this type of bushing when transitioning between pipe sizes in tight spaces where a full coupling or union is not practical.
This bushing is used in residential and light commercial piping applications where a compact threaded reducer is needed. Common install scenarios include water supply lines, compressed air distribution systems, gas piping, and hydronic heating systems. The all-brass construction resists corrosion and provides reliable sealing when assembled with the appropriate thread sealant or PTFE tape. The 3/4 x 1/2 inch size is one of the most common reducing combinations encountered in field service work.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or service fitting for threaded brass piping systems requiring a 3/4 inch to 1/2 inch reducing bushing with BSPT thread connections at Class 125 rating.
Installation is performed by licensed plumbers, pipefitters, or qualified HVAC technicians following applicable IPC and IFGC guidelines. Shut off and depressurize the line before removing or installing any threaded fitting. Apply an appropriate thread sealant compound or PTFE tape to all male threads before assembly. Do not overtighten brass fittings, as the material is softer than iron and threads can be damaged by excessive torque.
