The MERIT BRASS XB114-0802 is a threaded brass pipe bushing designed to reduce a 1/2-inch female pipe thread to a 1/8-inch female pipe thread connection. It features male BSPT threads on the outer end and female BSPT threads on the inner end, allowing a smaller-diameter pipe or fitting to thread into a larger-diameter port. Rated Class 125, this bushing is suited for moderate-pressure plumbing, HVAC, and general piping applications. Plumbers, pipefitters, and HVAC technicians use this type of fitting to adapt existing pipe runs where two different thread sizes must be joined without adding additional fittings or nipples.
This bushing is a common component in residential and light commercial plumbing and HVAC piping systems where thread size transitions are needed at valves, manifolds, gauges, or equipment ports. It is appropriate for use in water supply lines, compressed air systems, and general fluid service applications that fall within Class 125 pressure ratings. The compact hex or hex-head body style fits standard pipe wrenches and basin wrenches, making installation straightforward in tight spaces.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation bushing for threaded pipe systems requiring a 1/2-inch to 1/8-inch BSPT reduction in Class 125 service.
Installation is performed by licensed plumbers or qualified HVAC technicians in accordance with applicable local plumbing codes and IPC guidelines. Shut off and depressurize the affected pipe system before removing or installing any threaded fittings. Apply an appropriate thread sealant or PTFE tape to the male threads before assembly. Do not over-torque brass fittings, as brass threads can gall or crack under excessive force.
