The MERIT BRASS XB112-3220 is a brass pipe reducing coupling designed to connect two threaded pipe sections of different diameters in a single inline fitting. Sized at 2 inches by 1-1/4 inches with female BSP tapered (FBSPT) threads on both ends, this coupling steps down pipe diameter without requiring additional adapters. Rated Class 125, it is suited for moderate-pressure plumbing and piping systems. Licensed plumbers and pipefitters install this type of fitting in water supply, industrial fluid, and general-purpose piping applications where a direct threaded reduction is needed.
This reducing coupling is used in residential and light commercial plumbing systems, as well as industrial fluid handling lines where a 2-inch run must transition to a 1-1/4-inch branch or continuation. The FBSPT x FBSPT thread configuration allows it to thread directly onto male BSP-tapered pipe ends on both sides. Class 125 brass fittings are commonly found in water service, compressed air, and low-pressure fluid piping installations.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation fitting for threaded pipe systems using BSP tapered connections in Class 125 service applications.
Installation is performed by a licensed plumber or qualified pipefitter. Shut off and depressurize the supply line fully before removing or installing any threaded fittings. Apply an appropriate thread sealant or PTFE tape to the male threads before engagement. Follow applicable IPC or local plumbing code requirements for fitting class and material compatibility with the service fluid.
