The MERIT BRASS XB112-3216 is a brass pipe reducing coupling designed to connect pipes of two different diameters in pressurized fluid systems. With female British Standard Pipe Taper (FBSPT) connections on both ends, it steps down from a 2-inch line to a 1-inch line in a single fitting. Rated Class 125, it is built for low-to-medium pressure service in water, oil, and compatible fluid applications. Licensed plumbers and pipefitters install this fitting in commercial and residential systems where reducing the pipe diameter in a straight run is required.
This reducing coupling is suited for in-line pipe diameter reduction in plumbing, hydronic, and light industrial piping systems. The FBSPT x FBSPT end configuration threads directly onto male-threaded pipe ends on both sides, making it a straightforward replacement or new-installation fitting. It is commonly used in mechanical rooms, equipment connections, and distribution lines where flow sizing changes are needed along a straight pipe run.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation reducing coupling for 2-inch to 1-inch threaded pipe systems using FBSPT connections rated to Class 125 service.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber in accordance with applicable local plumbing codes and IPC guidelines. Shut off and depressurize the supply line fully before removing or installing any threaded fitting. Apply an approved thread sealant or PTFE tape to the male threads before making up the connection. Do not over-torque brass fittings, as brass threads can gall or crack under excessive force.
