The MERIT BRASS XB112-2416 is a threaded brass pipe reducing coupling designed to connect pipes of two different diameters in a single inline fitting. It transitions from a 1-1/2 inch female pipe thread to a 1 inch female pipe thread, using standard FBSPT connections on both ends. Rated at Class 125, this coupling is suited for low-to-medium pressure plumbing and fluid distribution systems. The all-brass construction provides corrosion resistance in water and many fluid service applications. Plumbers and pipefitters install this fitting wherever a diameter reduction is needed without adding a separate adapter.
This reducing coupling is used in residential and light commercial plumbing systems, hydronic heating lines, and general-purpose fluid piping. It is appropriate for installations requiring a straight inline pipe size transition with threaded connections. The Class 125 pressure rating makes it suitable for domestic water supply, drain and distribution lines, and similar low-pressure service environments. FBSPT threading on both ends allows it to mate with standard NPT-threaded pipe and fittings.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation fitting for 1-1/2 inch by 1 inch threaded pipe systems using standard NPT-compatible female pipe thread connections.
Installation is performed by licensed plumbers or qualified pipefitters. Shut off the water supply and depressurize the line before making any threaded connections. Apply an appropriate thread sealant tape or compound to the male threads before assembling. Follow all applicable IPC and local plumbing code requirements for brass fittings in the intended service environment.
