The MERIT BRASS XB112-2412 is a brass reducing coupling designed to connect two female threaded pipe ends of different sizes in a single inline fitting. It transitions from a 1-1/2 inch FBSPT inlet to a 3/4 inch FBSPT outlet, allowing pipe runs to step down in diameter without additional adapters. Rated Class 125, this fitting is suited for low-to-moderate pressure water, air, and compatible fluid systems. Plumbers and pipefitters install this coupling during new construction, tenant improvement, and service work where pipe sizing changes are required at a connection point.
This reducing coupling is used in residential and light commercial plumbing systems where a pipe run must transition from 1-1/2 inch to 3/4 inch nominal pipe size. It is appropriate for water supply, compressed air distribution, and similar threaded pipe assemblies. The all-brass construction handles the demands of typical building service piping environments. Both ends accept standard tapered NPT threads, making the fitting compatible with pipe and fittings already in service on threaded systems.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and new-installation fitting for threaded brass pipe systems using 1-1/2 inch by 3/4 inch nominal pipe sizes with FBSPT end connections.
Installation is performed by licensed plumbers or qualified pipefitters working on threaded pipe systems. Shut off and depressurize the line completely before removing or installing any threaded fitting. Apply an approved thread sealant or PTFE tape to the male threads before assembly, and tighten to a snug, leak-free make-up without overtightening brass threads. Work must comply with applicable local plumbing codes and standards such as the IPC or IFGC where relevant.
