The MERIT BRASS XB112-1208 is a threaded brass pipe reducing coupling designed to connect two female-threaded pipe ends of different sizes within a pressurized piping system. It reduces from a 3/4-inch female BSP tapered (FBSPT) inlet to a 1/2-inch FBSPT outlet, allowing plumbers and pipefitters to step down pipe diameter without additional fittings. Rated Class 125, this coupling handles standard-pressure applications in water supply, compressed air, and general fluid distribution systems. The all-brass construction offers solid corrosion resistance in wet service environments. At 0.2552 pounds, it is a compact, lightweight fitting suited for close-quarters installations.
This reducing coupling is used in residential and light commercial plumbing systems wherever a 3/4-inch supply line must transition to a 1/2-inch branch line. Typical applications include domestic water distribution, hydronic heating branch circuits, and compressed air distribution drops. It is installed by licensed plumbers and pipefitters working on threaded-pipe systems where a solder or press connection is not appropriate or preferred.
Designed as an OEM-style threaded fitting for use with standard 3/4-inch and 1/2-inch BSP tapered threaded pipe in residential and light commercial plumbing and fluid distribution systems.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber or pipefitter in accordance with applicable local plumbing codes and the IPC. Shut off and depressurize the supply line fully before removing any existing fitting or threading this coupling onto pipe. Apply an appropriate thread sealant or PTFE tape to the male pipe threads before engagement. Do not over-tighten; use a pipe wrench with controlled force and inspect for leaks after pressurizing the system.
