The MERIT BRASS XB112-0802 is a brass pipe reducing coupling designed to connect two female threaded pipe ends of different sizes within a pressurized piping system. It transitions from a 1/2-inch FBSPT connection to a 1/8-inch FBSPT connection using standard tapered female threads on both ends. Rated at Class 125, this fitting is suited for low- to moderate-pressure applications in plumbing, HVAC, and light industrial systems. The all-brass construction provides corrosion resistance and reliable sealing when assembled with appropriate thread sealant or PTFE tape. Licensed plumbers and HVAC technicians are the typical installers.
This reducing coupling is used in residential and commercial piping runs where a branch line or instrument port requires a step-down from 1/2-inch to 1/8-inch pipe thread. Common applications include connecting pressure gauges, sensors, or smaller-diameter branch lines to a main pipe run. The FBSPT x FBSPT configuration means both ends accept male-threaded fittings or pipe, making this a straightforward in-line reducer for threaded pipe assemblies. It is packaged and sold individually.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation fitting for threaded brass pipe systems using standard BSP tapered thread connections in Class 125-rated piping assemblies.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber or qualified HVAC technician in accordance with applicable local plumbing codes and IPC guidelines. Shut off and depressurize the system completely before removing or installing any threaded fittings. Apply PTFE tape or an approved pipe thread sealant to the male threads before assembly to ensure a leak-free joint. Do not overtighten, as brass fittings can be damaged by excessive torque.
